Course Description

This
course is taught using the Oracle 9i database. It gives students a full and comprehensive introduction to
the PL/SQL programming language.
Students are taught to write PL/SQL program units, functions,
procedures, packages, and database triggers using SQL*Plus. In addition, the course will teach
students to manage PL/SQL program units and database triggers, and to manage
dependencies and to use some of the Oracle-supplied packages. Regular
hands-on practise will reinforce the course concepts; indeed, one of the
goals of the course is for students to apply the techniques learnt to build
upon a small accounting application for a fictional online store selling CD’s (LINK TO FAQ ABOUT COMMON APPLICATION
THROUGHOUT COURSES – SELLING POINT). Students
will have the use of a computer. These are provided on a one computer
per student basis. (LINK TO FAQ ABOUT COMPUTERS). This
